Tehachapi Pass

The former Southern Pacific has their trackage up through this pass which goes from the fertile valley around Bakersfield up into the Mojave Desert. The BNSF has trackage rights on this line which is now owned and operated by the Union Pacific. The pass is home to the famous Tehachapi Loop, where the railroad makes a loop over itself. I have only photgraphed at the loop, but have seen some great photos from other parts of the pass. Most of the tracks are viewable and accessable from Rt. 58, which runs from Bakersfield, over the summit at Tehachapi, and down to Mojave.
